Spirit Water Inn

Our Area
Located in historic Minnewaukan and overlooking Devils Lake, Spirit Water Inn offers a variety of accommodations for family getaways, business gatherings, extended stay lodging and/or sportsmen's adventures.

Devils Lake, the largest natural body of water in North Dakota, makes it your premier vacation destination for all four seasons of the year.  We offer some of the best fishing and hunting in North America.  Approaching 200,000 acres , Devils Lake has nearly 600 miles of shoreline, much of it undeveloped and ready for you to explore.

Fishing is outstanding year-round for a number of species including: Abundant Walleye, Jumbo Perch, vicious Northern Pike and feisty White Bass.  Some folks even target the elusive Crappies. The lake itself is relatively shallow with an excellent forage base that produces large fish fast. The opportunity exists here to land the trophy of a lifetime.  Northern Pike of 20 plus pounds, 8 pound Walleye, 2 pound Perch and knuckle busting White Bass of 3 pounds are not uncommon when fishing Devils Lake. It's hard to beat Devils Lake North Dakota if you love to fish or hunt.

"I've been fishing Devils Lake for a lot of years, and remember when we thought 39,000 acres was a big lake. Well, it's really big now, 135,000 acres or so, depending on which day you count. But the really great news is the fishing. This is...simply one of the best walleye lakes in the world. Pike, big white bass and perch too. The waterfowling's world class too. Visit my friends at Spirit Water Inn. Their service and friendliness is world class too." -- Tony Dean

Devils Lake is home to hundreds of species of birds, waterfowl and a diverse array of wildlife. Buffalo can be spotted grazing in the fields. North Dakota is one of the few spots left in America where you'll find more critters than folks.

Ice Fishing on Devils Lake is becoming very popular.  It is one of the top destinations for ice fishing world wide.  Many perch, walleye, and northern pike are caught each winter. Devils Lake fishermen have yet to pull a 3 pound perch out of her waters but that is what brings a lot of people back each year.  A record-breaking 46" 29 lb 2 oz northern pike was caught through the ice!!

Some of the hot spots for Devils Lake in the wintertime include Rocky Point, Cactus Point, Minnewaukan Flats, the bridges along Highways 20 and 57 and the manifold flooded structures as the lake continues to grow larger.   Did we mention that we had shoreline property???

Fully furnished houses are also available year round.  Larger houses have six bedrooms with fourteen separate beds.  Spirit Water Inn has 20 spacious and comfortable one bedroom, sleep eight fully furnished housekeeping red cottages and several two and three bedroom 'shoreline' bungalows.  Consider reserving the entire resort for your exclusive getaway or a grouping for a peaceful retreat. Individual parties or large groups will be be accommodated in style.  All are welcome here.

Spacious RV sites are available for short term or seasonal use. These well-maintained sites have water, electric and sewer hookups.
